Question
How can I migrate the TBS WebEdition server software to another server machine?
Answer
This article describes how to migrate the TBS WebEdition (WE) server software to a different physical computer. The below steps should be followed in order to migrate the WE server:
Install the latest WebEdition (https://cloud1.tbs-biometrics.com/index.php/s/z05E9MUuWjYFn39) in new server machine.
IMPORTANT: Please install using Installation helper as explained in installation documentation.
Stop the IIS in old machine and take a backup of the database as explained in KB article https://help-center.tbs-biometrics.com/portal/kb/articles/faq-migration-of-tbs-webedition-database-to-another-ms-sql-server
Restore the database in new installation as explained in above article.
Upgrade the DB schema in new installation using the tool TBS.Apps.DBInstallerTool available under {WebEdition}\_tools\DBInstaller folder.
Configure all the devices to connect to new server IP address using DeviceConfig or device admin interface.
The TBS readers will notice that the server has changed and enter a blocked state.
To activate the TBS readers, go to "Home" menue in DeviceConfig of each device and click on the green "Resolve" button at the bottom of the screen.
"Device is blocked" and "Device is not validated" will disappear after the device is validated on the new server.
