HowTo - Resolve 3D AIR GEN2 finger positioning problems

Symptoms:

(1) 3D AIR GEN2 shows the error : "Move upward/downward" while positioning the fingerprint and fail to capture the fingerprint.

(2) The 3D AIR GEN2 Sensor doesn't read the fingerprints at all.

Solution:

In most cases, this issue occurs because the 3D AIR GEN2 Sensor has lost its calibration data and requires re-calibration. Re-calibrating the sensor restores its operating parameters and helps ensure proper finger detection. This guide provides the necessary steps to perform the calibration and restore normal sensor functionality.

It can be resolved by following below steps:

(1) Perform LEDs calibration using ADMIN menu on the device

It's available under 'Configuration' → 'Maintenance' → 'More' → 'LEDs calibration'. During calibration please take care of following instruction:

  1. If sun-flap is not installed, please cover the sensor hole to prevent external light entering inside sensor. It can be covered with hand or small notebook. (Or)
  2. If sun-flap is installed, please open the sun-flap with a small object like screwdriver/pen and keep the sensor hole open during calibration.


(2) If it does not work, please repeat the process one more time after re-powering the terminal.


(3) If the step (2) also fails, please download the attached '3DT_SICalibration_default' package (.tbs for FW 2.xx or .stbs for FW 3.xx) from this article, login to the Device Config Interface and apply this package under 'Maintenance - Firmware Update'.

Check if the finger positioning functionality is rectified from any of the above mentioned steps. If the issue still persist, create a ticket in TBS Help Center for further assistance.
